2022 Summer Reading
Incoming 3rd grade parents,
Encourage your child to read! Reading is the foundation of your child’s ability to learn and ultimately their ability to function successfully in an ever-changing society! Help them discover the magic of books by reading this summer. You may read with
them or they may read on their own. Read in the dark with a flashlight, read in the pool, or read to your dog! Just make sure to read, read, read, and make it enjoyable.
The children will be responsible for reading three books in total. They are to select one mystery, one biography or autobiography and one fiction book from the attached list. To show comprehension of their reading your child will also be required to take TWO Accelerated Reader Test over the reading completed during the summer—ONE by the end of June and the other by the end of July. Additionally, within the first few weeks of school your child will be given an assignment to complete related to their third summer reading book. Most importantly read, have fun, and enjoy the summer!
