1st Grade Summer Reading

2022 Summer Reading

Dear Incoming First Grade Parents,

As you know, fostering a love of reading at a young age has so many benefits. With reading being the biggest indicator of academic success, we must foster that love and continue to encourage our students to read. At All Saints Catholic School, we want to do all that we can to foster that love of reading. This summer students will have the opportunity to build their knowledge and faith through the wonderful world of books!

As incoming 1st graders there will be 2 parts to our summer required reading program. They are as follows:

  • The first part of the 1st grade required summer reading program will be for the
students to read 10 books from the list provided. Students will record the books
in the reading log provided. Most of these books can be found at your local
library. We encourage a good mix of fiction and non-fiction books.
  • The second part of the 1st grade required summer reading program is to pick one
of the books from your reading log and draw a picture of it.
  • The reading log and picture project will be due on the first day of school.

Our hope is that this summer requirement will encourage your child to continue to read over the summer. We are looking forward to seeing you in the fall! Have a wonderful summer vacation!
